P/T - Records Management Officer - NYC Comptroller's Office

Salary:                        $25hr - $30hr (Starts at approximately 28-hours a week)

The NYC Comptroller’s Office seeks to hire a Records Management Officer to perform responsible professional work relating to the overall management, planning and operation of a records management program.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
·         Provides guidance to Comptroller’s Office staff on records management, advises Bureaus on archival and retention procedures;
·         Analyzes methods and procedures concerning archival and/or records management; recommends and implements improvements;
·         Supervises the arrangement of material within prescribed functional and organizational categories (alphabetical, chronological, and numerical);
·         Generates and updates record inventories, maintains the retention database as it relates to specific tasks and functions;
·         Supervises continuous storage or disposal of outdated materials; serves as liaison to DORIS and off-site storage facility;
·         May supervise employees performing similar task;
·         Performs related assignments or special projects as required.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

·         BA degree from an accredited college in Library Science, Archival Science, American History, Political Science or related area, and one (1) or more years of full-time experience in the reference, disposal of records, records management, or archival of library materials or government archives. 

·         MA from an accredited college in Library Science, Archival Science, American History, Political Science or related area .

PREFERRED SKILLS IN ADDITION TO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

·         The preferred candidate will demonstrate the ability to work on several projects simultaneously, exhibit strong analytical and planning skills, and be very detailed oriented.
·         Some familiarity with public documents expected.
·         Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products expected.
