Overview
The Associate Director, Digital Content Strategy is a newly created leadership opportunity for a strategic minded professional to develop a rich digital content ecosystem for Starwood. An exciting role for a visionary content management expert to report directly into the Director, Online Merchandising and determine long term plans to improve destination content, while improving site revenues. Will have the opportunity to bring his/her skills to a broad range of internal stakeholders to create a cohesive, consistent content strategy for premium guest experiences. This role will partner with Marketing functions globally to maximize the impact of content for visitors across all digital touch points (internal and3rd party sites) in order to drive revenue. Responsibilities include delivery of ROI through architecture of site content and integration of new forms of media on the Digital Platform, with a focus on hotel content pages where 50% of all site visits pass through.

Areas of Focus & Responsibility

  • Global content coordination and strategy for optimization of Brand, hotel, and marketing content including balanced vision of standardized, curated, and user generated content.
  • Integrate, maintain, and optimize destination, event, and rich media content provider(s) across multiple Digital platforms.
  • Establish goals and deliver measurable increases in visits, conversion, and average order value through optimization of content for Digital Platforms.
  • Conduct gap analysis to assess current state content needs for Digital Platform and develop content requirements, migration planning, transformation and maintenance efforts.
  • Approve optimization for various site components including copy, page title/descriptions, site architecture, filenames, etc.; approve vendor selection and approval for all content providers globally, if integrating within any Digital platform.
  • Approve social media integration on Digital platforms, in partnership with Social Media team; approve content strategy of all digital initiatives with focus on maximizing revenue through SEO and visitor satisfaction.
  • Recommend content strategy requirements and pricing based on initial gap analysis and on-going optimization.
Requirements
  • 5+ years working experience leading content strategy, or a minimum of 2 years successful, high impact content strategy with additional 3+ years successful prior experience in other functions, including IA.
  • A proven ability to bring discipline around content and monetized data, and be able to establish processes to drive revenue.
  • Contribute deep knowledge and leadership in content strategy, with expertise in taxonomy and SEO/metadata/micro data strategy.
  • Successful experience working with video and photography from site-side a large plus; experience with multiple, complex revenue-generating content platforms a must.
  • Proven integration of social media with internal Digital platforms.
  • Able to communicate ideas, suggestions, and concepts clearly.
  • Experience managing content across multiple viewpoints through responsive design strategy.
  • Uses analytics to inform content priorities.
  • Deep knowledge of content management systems such as Documentum, and Interwoven products.
