The Bard Graduate Center (BGC), a division of Bard College, is seeking a part-time Library Special Projects Assistant.

The BGC offers MA and PhD programs in the study of the cultural history of the material world and is committed to the encyclopedic study of things, drawing on methodologies and approaches from art and design history, history of technology, philosophy, anthropology, and archaeology and cultural history. Founded in 1993, the BGC is located on West 86th Street in New York City.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE:
Assist with surveying, analyzing and processing the recently acquired private library and archive. Aid in the inventorying, cleaning and arranging of materials. Occasionally perform basic preservation measures, cataloging items, compiling statistics and maintaining inventories.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
Candidates should have some experience or coursework in archival studies, be able to perform detailed work independently and be capable of lifting cartons weighing up to 40 pounds. Students with a focus in French decorative arts are encouraged to apply.

Schedule:
Requires a minimum commitment of two full days a week (7 hours), scheduled during the standard Monday – Friday workweek

Compensation: $15/hour
