F/T - Database, Budget, Research Mgr - Safe Horizon (NY)

Database, Budget & Research Manager 
New York, NY


Under direction of Chief of Staff, the Database, Budget and Research Manager will be responsible for managing the Raiser's Edge donor database, ensuring proper gift entry, tracking of gifts, the departmental budget and prospect research.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages and maintains the donor database
  • Manages the budget for the development department as well as all financial reconciliations with finance and other databases
  • Manages the documentation of all business rules for the department pertaining to the donor database
  • Oversees and does gift entry, notification, acknowledgment and invoicing for private donations, including entering and processing gifts, writing, mailing and filing of acknowledgement letters, posting gifts to finance and invoicing donors for past due pledges
  • Train and assist staff with Raiser's Edge applications and modules, and oversee all related data entry to ensure proper usage
  • Streamlines acknowledgment and other business processes to ensure donor retention
  • Liaises with Executive Administration and Finance to achieve above
  • Manages the receipt and acknowledgement of all in-kind donations by coordinating with donors and programs and liaising with Facilities to achieve deliveries
  • Enters data into Raiser's Edge and does data maintenance to ensure data integrity
  • Manages the transfer of data from the web database to the donor database
  • Responsible for reporting from Raiser's Edge using queries, mail segmentation and exports
  • Prepares bi-weekly donor listings, weekly and monthly revenue reports
  • Produces monthly income and pledge reconciliation reports
  • Responds to public and donor inquiries about Safe Horizon
  • Manages the preparation of mailing lists, mail appeals and revenue reports on appeals
  • Researches donors and prospective donors utilizing Internet, Hoover's, and Lexis Nexis
  • Participate in department-wide projects and events, as necessary
  • Assist with any special initiatives as determined
  • Complete other duties as assigned and appropriate
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Superior verbal and interpersonal skills;
  • Must possess the ability to effectively multi-task with competing priorities and deadlines in a fast paced environment;
  • Must have excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills
  • Must be highly detail-oriented;
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • Knowledge of business rules and data hierarchy within a database
Required Experience:
  • BA/BS or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Three years experience in database management with at least 2 years experience with Raiser's Edge
  • Two years experience in managing and creating budgets
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Internet Research
