F/T - EBM Reference Librarian -Elsevier (PA)

Position summary:
The EBM reference librarian will develop a clinical reference library for Elsevier clinical products to ensure they are supported by the best and most current science. This librarian collaborates with editors in finding the best evidence and in designing and maintaining the databases to store and retrieve the original sources and evidence summaries for use in products supporting the clinical health sciences.

Essential functions of the EBM reference librarian:
• Locate evidence to support Elsevier clinical products through the design and conduct of systematic searches and retrieval of published and unpublished studies
• Develop, supervise, and maintain a virtual clinical reference library of the evidence for all Elsevier clinical products. The librarian will also develop and maintain policies and procedures for the virtual library and its use.
• Design and implement automated systems for the resource collection, management, and access.
• Monitor web resources with evidence based content, and create processes for alerting medical editors of potentially important new content to ensure currency of the clinical products.
Requirements:
• Masters degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited school
• Certification by the Academy of Health Information Professionals AHIP
• 5- 7 years of experience in health sciences library setting using evidence based methods to systematically search and retrieve research and with the creation of systematic reviews. Experience with development and use of PICO questions for searching and expertise in searching PubMed and other databases for retrieval of systematic reviews
• Experience with cataloging and taxonomies
• Ability to prioritize and to use problem solving skills  
Preferred:
• Subject knowledge in a biomedical or clinical discipline
• Experience designing databases to store and retrieve evidence based references and derivatives
• Experience monitoring clinical web resources for updating evidence
• Experience in knowledge management principles and digital collections
