MLS/MLIS from ALA-accredited library school and 3+ years of relevant experience
Instruction and reference experience in an academic library
Demonstrated knowledge of copyright and other intellectual property issues in the academic environment, particularly as they involve the creation, dissemination, and use of digital information resources
Knowledge of learning theories, pedagogies, trends in higher education related to teaching and learning, student learning assessment, and fluency with ACRL’s Learning Standards and Outcomes
Demonstrated ability to engage students and convey information literacy concepts
Experience creating effective and innovative instructional materials
Demonstrated experience or interest in online instructional design and/or familiarity with tools such as Camtasia, Jing, YouTube, Adobe Captivate, Illuminate, Moodle, and/or Blackboard
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with library staff at all levels, as well as with faculty and students
 
Preferred qualifications:
A second Master’s degree
Academic background in engineering, science, or technology
 
Job Description:
(Position available July 1, 2013) 
 The Samuel C. Williams Library at Stevens Institute of Technology seeks a creative and energetic librarian to expand and promote its information literacy efforts for graduate programs.  This full-time, non-tenure track position is also responsible for developing and implementing programs to increase awareness among faculty, researchers, and students about scholarly communication.  The ideal candidate is service oriented—with an enthusiasm for innovative library instruction in an academic setting. This position reports to the Head of Reference and Research Services.
 
Responsibilities:
Develop, plan, and instruct information literacy classes for graduate students
Promote, deliver, and assess library instruction programs and workshops
Assist in teaching undergraduate information literacy classes
Collaborate with librarians, faculty, and other departments on campus to develop baseline competencies and guidelines for information literacy
Participate in the evaluation of existing assessment tools and the creation of new tools to assess student-learning outcomes
Serve as a liaison to academic departments
Provide reference and research assistance to students, faculty and staff
Educate faculty and students on scholarly communication issues such as copyright, fair use, rights to scholarship, privacy rights, and open access
Develop web content for assigned areas
Participate in collection development to support curriculum and research needs
Participate in Library and Institute collaborative projects
Perform other duties as assigned by the Library Director
