Virtual Library Learning Manager, Bristol-Myers Squibb – NJ

 

A mid-sized biopharma information management group is looking for a self-motivated library professional with an aptitude for technology and a knack for engaging learners for the role of Virtual Library Learning Manager. This is a contract position and is located in our Hopewell, NJ location.

Under the general supervision of the head of the Content Learning and Access (CoLA) team, Information & Analytics Sciences, here’s the work associated with this role:

◦Plans, coordinates and assesses CoLA’s learning initiatives in conjunction with product and service vendors. Creates learning materials and research guides and conducts or coordinates general and subject-specific classes.

◦Provides support for users of the CoLA suite of scientific search and discovery tools, including PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Reaxys, SciFinder, etc. with strong troubleshooting skills and product-specific knowledgebase.

◦Provides general support for information management activities and projects with the CoLA team.

◦Promotes library services and collections through outreach activities, including group presentations or information tables at company events.

◦Integrates current and emerging technologies, as appropriate, in the design and delivery of CoLA instruction, outreach and information services.

◦Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:


◦ALA accredited MLS/MLIS


Required Skills and Abilities:

 

◦Substantial coursework or library experience or practical lab experience in science fields, preferably biology, chemistry, or clinical fields

◦Well-developed analytical, organizational, management, problem-solving and communication skills

◦Demonstrated initiative, creativity and flexibility

◦Self-directed and motivated, with the ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a demanding team environment

•Strong desire to provide outstanding client support to our global user base

•Attention to detail coupled with the ability to work under tight timelines

•Considered a starter and a finisher


Preferred Skills and Abilities:


◦Demonstrated experience in a science or medical setting providing reference, product or service support, and training.

◦Demonstrated experience providing instruction and applying information literacy concepts, such as developing learning outcomes and employing assessment techniques.

◦Demonstrated facility with instruction and information technologies and creative use of technology to enhance learning.

◦Demonstrated experience developing and managing scientific or medical related collections.

◦Knowledge of the information needs of relevant disciplines and an understanding of current trends and issues in information management.

◦Science or medical degree
