Thomson Reuters is seeking Indexer to write and edit indexes for newsletters and treatises; to proofread indexes, including work done by freelancers and

to aid manager in creation and updating of Checkpoint indexes.The Indexing Department is responsible for print, Checkpoint, and CD indexes for publications produced by Tax and Accounting Knowledge Solutions. The group maintains Checkpoint thesauri for federal, pension, and international practice areas, as well as a Checkpoint equivalency file for all practice areas. There are presently over 1500 index files that must be updated annually, quarterly, monthly, or weekly. Indexers are required to create the content for these files.

Indexers must have excellent reading and comprehension skills. They must have the ability to simplify often obtuse material and write an index that is complete, organized, and helpful to subscribers in locating desired editorial and source material content in our products.

The best candidates have excellent organizational skills and can work effectively under challenging deadline pressure. Knowledge of taxation and financial accounting is highly desirable.

Qualifications





Education:

BA (Lib Arts); MLS/MS library science preferred

Experience:

Past experience in a corporate Indexing environment; freelance indexing; web site indexing.

Technology skills:

Working knowledge of Cindex and Word desirable.
