Veterans Affairs Health Administration Agency is seeking a Supervisory Librarian to plan, manage, and administer the functions of the general and medical libraries



$77,585.00 to $100,859.00 / Per Year



Open Period: Thursday, May 30, 2013 to Wednesday, June 05, 2013

DUTIES:

This position is located in the Learning Resources Center and Medical Library of the New York Harbor Healthcare System in New York, NY. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

 



◦Planning, managing, and administering the functions of the general and medical libraries;

◦Formulating and implementing library service goals and objectives;

◦Planning and assigning work to be accomplished by library staff;

◦Planning for the arrangement of library materials;

◦Setting priorities, identifying areas of improvement, surveying customers, hearing and resolving complaints, and resolving issues;

◦Identifying the developmental and training needs of staff;

◦Directing the selection, acquisition, organization, documentation, and dissemination of information materials such as clinical literature (for research, education, and reference), training materials, audio-visual materials, software/websites, etc.;

◦Meeting with top management to discuss policy and the scope of library services;

◦Developing working relationships with the public and academic research libraries;

◦Serving as a consultant and technical advisor in the medical or health science fields;

◦Working in consultation with the Associate Director of Finance to develop deadlines, projects, and goals using available/budgeted resources;

◦Performing related duties as required.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm.
