Information Access Librarian
Blank Rome, LLP
Location: New York, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Wilmington, or Princeton

Primary Responsibilities:
Oversees and implements the library’s acquisition, cataloging, circulation, and serials routing systems. Develops, implements, and maintains library technical policies and procedures. Develops a technical services/cataloging aids collection. Acts as primary liaison with all library personnel involved in technical services. Plans for future development of cataloging systems and procedures. Ensures data integrity of firm catalog and other integrated library system modules.
Tasks Performed:
Maintains a collection development policy, evaluates the collection, selects books and other resources, and approves items for purchase. Reviews subject areas for cancellations and deselects items. Reviews publishers’ releases for new or revised volumes, orders when necessary, and disseminates timely and relevant information on new materials to attorneys according to interest. Works closely with attorneys to provide appropriate and adequate materials for each practice area. Ensures accuracy and compliance with national standards for bibliographic control. Controlling and managing serials maintenance.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the supervision and management of all aspects of acquisitions operations, including the materials budget, expenditures, ordering and receipt of library materials in all formats and media, collection management policies, and vendor relations and purchasing agreements. Maintains accurate acquisitions data, statistics, reports, and policies. Responsible for the operation of the law library circulation function, including interlibrary loans. Oversees shelving and shelf reading. Compiles library use statistics. Supervises some staff. Oversees pre-order searching, placing orders, claim materials not received, sorting unpaid invoices and packing slips for processing payments, processing invoices.
Desired Education:
Master of Library & Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
Desired Job Experience:
Two years of experience in a law library. Two years of information access or technical services experience, either in or out of the legal industry.
Other Qualifications:
Familiarity with one or more integrated library systems, EOS preferred. Strong supervisory skills. Some prior circulation or interlibrary loan library experience. Some familiarity with OCLC, ILLiad, WorldCat, and related systems preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of legal publishing trends.
