Aquent seeks a User Experience Researcher for a client in New York City.

Responsibilities & Capabilities
The User Experience Researcher will be primarily responsible for designing, conducting, analyzing, and reporting on user-centered design research and usability testing for client’s digital products and features, including identification of user needs and goals, task and workflow modeling, rapid iterative usability testing, and more formal, in-depth testing.

An understanding of the interplay between business requirements, product strategy, and user experience is essential. You must have the ability to use data to argue for improvements to the customer experience. You should also be adaptable, a fast learner, and be willing to work on a variety projects.

• Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative research using a variety of methodologies including face-to-face usability sessions, remote usability, un-moderated testing, card sorting, tree testing, ethnographic methods, and more.
 

• Own the research process from participant recruiting and screening, scheduling to writing test plans and creating prototypes. Responsible for running and ensuring quality of user research.
 

• Work closely with Product and Content Strategy stakeholders to outline research plans.
 

• Craft stories using internal and external data sources that frame user needs and challenges and guide product design.
 

• Help build a process for creating UX metrics to measure against and track over time that help illustrate the impact of design changes on the user experience,
 

• Communicate user behaviors and insights in compelling, creative ways, focusing on actionable recommendations.
 

• Help maintain, organize and grow the UX research library and archives.
 

• Work with UX and UI designers to test proposed look & feel initiatives.
 

• Ensure the customer voice is present throughout the product development lifecycle.
 

• Reach across the enterprise to build relationships and consensus that help the product and UX design effort succeed.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional, multi-device UX research experience
• Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods
• Experience working with a variety of research tools, including Morae, Silverback, surveys, card sorting, online testing tools, etc.
• Exceptional analytical skills. Able to take a variety of primary and secondary source materials such as site analytics, survey results, user sessions, industry reports and best practices to craft actionable recommendations.
• Solid understanding of the research methodologies and literature in the user research field.
• BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability and willingness to roll up the sleeves and get things done.
