F/T - Info Lit & Outreach Librarian, Felician College (NJ)

Felician College is seeking an Information Literacy and Outreach Librarian.
JOB SUMMARY:   The Information Literacy and Outreach Librarian serves in a full-time, twelve-month position.  S/he contributes to a collegial environment that supports the central goals of service and instruction to promote, publicize, and implement programs, services, events, and instruction to engage students to become active and discerning information seekers. 

INFORMATION LITERACY  

o Provide leadership for and continuing implementation of an information literacy program across the curriculum and in various modes of delivery. 
o Establish best practices for student engagement in information literacy instruction. 
o Coordinate and maintain standards for a progression of information literacy initiatives, refining rubrics and assessment tools. 
o Teach assignment-based sessions in assigned liaison areas and in other areas. 
o Plan and implement workshops about Library resources for students, faculty, and staff. 
o Maintain statistics related to the information literacy instruction program.  

OUTREACH 

o Cultivate library awareness within the college community. 
o Attend liaison-area departmental meetings on invitation. 
o Plan and implement an annual series of programs and events. 
o Develop and coordinate library marketing and outreach materials using print, web-based media, and social networking conduits.   

REFERENCE 

o Assist students, faculty, and staff in addressing their information needs, both in person and virtually, as needed.

COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT 

o Select print and non-print materials in assigned liaison areas and within budget. 
o Collaborate with liaison-area faculty to de-select obsolete materials, as needed.

o Maintain knowledge of information literacy instruction trends. 
o Assist the Director of Library Services on special projects, as assigned. 
o Engage in professional development activities. 
o Participate in College-wide faculty meetings and serve on committees and work groups.  
o Conduct research as time allows.  

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
             
o ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library and/or information science. 
o Teaching experience and strong presentation skills, preferably in a college setting. 
o Subject strengths in the physical, natural, and health sciences preferred. 
o Entrepreneurial and marketing skills. 
o Public relations and promotional ability. 
o Visual literacy skills. 
o Familiarity with web-based social media tools. 
o Capacity to support and enhance the college's Catholic/Franciscan tradition and mission. 
o Emotional intelligence, self-awareness, self-critique, and social skill. 
o Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. 
o Ability to build rapport with others and actively listen to the concerns and opinions of others.
