P/T - Adjunct Ref Librarian, Coll of New Rochelle-Manhattan (NY)

ADJUNCT REFERENCE LIBRARIAN (Part-Time Library Specialist)

The Gill Library at The College of New Rochelle is seeking an Adjunct Reference Librarian, to work part time (20 hours/week) at our DC37 Campus located at 125 Barclay Street in Manhattan.  This position reports to the Dean of the Gill Library and works closely with the Director, faculty and staff at the DC37 Campus.

Responsibilities include:
*       Teach 1-2 sections of Research and Information Literacy (2 credit course)
*       Participate in the embedded librarianship program including collaborating with faculty to integrate digital and information literacy into the curriculum and to prepare active learning based instructional sessions to meet student learning needs.
*       Provide Reference and Information Literacy Services (in the Access Center or classrooms as needed including providing assistance with accessing electronic resources and services as well as virtual reference using AskUs 24/7)
*       Teach Library Instruction sessions, Workshops and meet with students by appointment for hands on help

Knowledge/skills/abilities required:
*       Knowledge of best practices in student success strategies and learning-related support services academic coaching or mentoring.
*       Demonstrated excellence in academic research
*       Proficient in computer and digital literacy skills
*       Strong desire to work with struggling students and to assist new students as they transition to higher education
*       Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a rapidly changing, culturally diverse environment

Requirements: Graduate degree from an ALA-accredited Library and Information Science program.  Two years of academic library experience including teaching information literacy experience particularly to adults.  Experience with virtual reference preferably OCLC QuestionPoint.  The position may include evening, weekend, and holiday hours and is available starting in January.
