F/T - Systems Librarian, Jewish Theological Sem (NY)

Systems Librarian

The Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) is currently seeking a full-time Systems Librarian.  The position reports to the Director of Library Services. The position is available immediately.

The Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary holds the foremost collection of Judaica and Hebraica in the Western Hemisphere, including manuscripts, rare printed books, periodicals, ephemeral materials, musical scores, sound recordings, moving images, graphic arts, and archives. It provides access to subscription databases and to its digital collections. The JTS Library serves the students and faculty of the institution in addition to the international community of scholars in Jewish studies and related areas. Description of the Position:

Oversees, monitors and administers functional and technical components of library-based production software.



Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible for oversight of several key information management and discovery systems including ALEPH500,  DigiTool, Primo and Archivist Toolkit. Responsible for ensuring optimal performance which includes: usage, statistics, reports, batch jobs, migration of software versions and learning about new features available. Ability to test and troubleshoot problems related to the systems and to further develop and enhance services.  Responsible for system upgrades and migrations. Responsible for creating programs to export data from the database.

Minimum Requirements:
ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS or equivalent experience in information technology. Experience with ExLibris products. Knowledge of library cataloging standards (RDA, LCSH, MARC21, DACS, METS). Knowledge of Oracle, VI, XML/XSL, CSS, JavaScript or JQuery, Oxygen, MySQL and writing queries in SQL and other programs.  Demonstrated ability to work independently on projects and in collaborative team environment. Demonstrated analytical, technical and troubleshooting skills for complex applications as well as excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to train staff on implementation of new features in the systems.
